The Nottawasaga OPP were steady with the onset of the rainstorm that passed through the area May 21, just after 2 p.m.
Police responded to numerous calls for service regarding dangerous conditions, multiple traffic hazards (trees and hydro poles down across the roadway) and many wires down calls that required Nottawasaga OPP Officers to close roadways to ensure everyone’s safety.
Police still had and still have many road closures in effect with County Road 10 closed from Highway 89 to the 5th Sideroad of Essa, the 5th Line closed from the 5th Sideroad to Highway 89 overnight. These roads remained closed until they are safe for vehicles to use.
Police encountered one driver, who drove through a road closed sign at the 5th Sideroad and the 6th Line of Essa on May 21, at 11:12 p.m. Police stopped the vehicle and investigated the driver, and the male was arrested and charged with one count of Exceed 80 mgs of alcohol. Charged is 34 year old Town of New Tecumseth resident, James Day. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford court on June 27th to answer to this charge.
