Contrary to the mild temperatures we experienced this spring, summer in Simcoe County is just heating up.

With all of the local attractions and one-of-a-kind festivals taking place in Simcoe County this summer, there is something for every budget and taste right in your own backyard.

New to Simcoe County this summer is the S.S. Keewatin Marine Museum in Port McNicoll. The S.S. Keewatin, a 106-year-old Canadian Pacific Great Lakes steamship, is truly a sight to see. With its original grand staircase, dining room, and ornate finishes, the S.S. Keewatin conjures up memories of great ships of the past, such as the Titanic. Bring the entire family for a tour of the ship any day of the week between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Also new to Simcoe County is the newly established Huronia Food Trail in Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny. This self-guided tour of the Huronia Food Trail features local farmers, producers, restaurants, retailers, and accommodations that have identified themselves as advocates of local taste and local products. Simply look for the Huronia Food Trail signs and window decals at participating businesses. For a complete listing of the Huronia Food Trail and to view the map, visit www.huroniafoodtrail.com
