Supporting the “shop local” sentiment

July 12, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Dear editor:

After reading the letter from Eric Vant Spyker last week, we can do nothing but shake our heads. So much for shopping locally! We would assume that any warranty or service work on the vehicle(s) would require an employee driving to Brantford. (That would be ethical.) With the cost of wages & fuel, the $500 plus “saved” should be disposed of pretty quickly.

As a customer of what is now Trillium Ford Lincoln Ltd for the past 13 plus years, the customer service has been excellent, sometimes above and beyond. Their support for fundraising, donations, sponsorships, as well as participation in community events like the Home Show, etc. is well documented. Why on earth would the Town powers that be have to go not only out of the Town but out of the County even to obtain these vehicles? Why bypass two local dealerships for the sake of a few dollars?

Any other tenders we taxpayers should know about? How much are we supporting businesses in other municipalities?
