Suspect pursuit ends in arrest

On Friday August 30, at 4:22 a.m., officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the OPP observed a motor vehicle traveling in the area of the 8th Line, Essa Township and County Road 90.

Police attempted to stop the motor vehicle which was reported stolen and the driver failed to stop. A Suspect Apprehension Pursuit (SAP) began and as one officer attempted to stop the stolen motor vehicle, the stolen vehicle came in contact with the police vehicle. The SAP continued for a short distance before the driver abandoned his motor vehicle near King Street and Elizabeth Street in Angus where he then fled on foot.

OPP officers assisting with incident set up containment in the area and a short time later, the driver was located and taken into custody.

A 32-year old male from Angus, Ontario is facing a slew of charges which include:

• Theft of Motor Vehicle (2 Counts)

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

• Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident

• Break and Enter

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

• Flight From Police

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle (2 Counts)

• Obstruct Police

The male was treated at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. He is scheduled to appear for a Bail Hearing in Barrie.

Nottawasaga OPP is being assisted by members of the Central Region Traffic Unit as this investigation continues.
