Tottenham Community Week will be here before you know it.
This year the team of volunteers is excited that a Fun Run 2K and 5K Run are being planned to kick off the week of activities on July 3 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Tom Naylor of Village Chiropractic approached the committee earlier in the year with the idea of bringing a fitness activity for all ages and levels into the mix of events.
Dr. Naylor has taken on some of the key planning and is excited to see it coming together. “I joined the Tottenham Fitness Centre as soon as it opened, and I’ve always been impressed to see so many people in there – people of all ages and fitness levels working out. I think there should be great interest in the community to take part in the run, whether for fun, training, or to test your fitness level in a new way. We want to see everyone interested, including kids, participate in our first organized run as part of Community Week.”
With the Town of New Tecumseth’s new upgrades to the path, surrounding the Tottenham Pond, the perfect location became obvious. The Grand opening will be on Sunday July 7th, so grab your shoes and be the first to kick up the dust!
The run will start at the Tottenham Conservation area and take runners to the path, avoiding roads and traffic. Registration can be done on line at: www.runningroom.com
Participants are to register for both 5K and 2K races.
Pick up your running kit at 6 p.m. at the Tottenham Conservation Area.
RRResults will conduct official timing results. The cost of $20 will go towards the 5K run itself, and a local charity still to be determined.
Kids of all ages are encouraged to join in on the 2K fun run for free. Check around town for flyers and posters and ask about the run at the fitness centres or call Dr Naylor at 905 936-9262.
The Tottenham Community Week Committee is looking for volunteers to help with the run and other events that will take place between July 3rd and 7th.
Contact Christine Finnie at 905 729-2919 to find out how you can help make the run and the other activities a success.
