Dear editor:
Another Beeton Honey and Garden Festival has come and gone. Mother Nature once again smiled on us and provided a glorious sunny day for all to take pleasure in. What a joy it was to see our quaint little town welcome thousands of visitors from far and wide. Main Street was transformed, as over 170 vendors lined the road selling fresh and innovative wares of all kinds. We were thrilled to have over 1/3 of our vendors be locals offering unique merchandise from farm produce to shabby chic furniture. The creations of talented local artists were available for purchase at the Artist & Artisans Marketplace. The garden element of the day brought forth a huge selection of all things garden related from seasonal decor, to plants, to gardening supplies. Our ‘Antique Alley’ was stocked with vintage finds including antiques, collectables, jewellery and more. Our ‘International Marketplace’ featured clothing, textiles and crafts from exotic locales. And HONEY! Lots of local honey!
Through our partnership with the South Simcoe Arts Council we were able to offer a full day of live entertainment throughout the festival in addition to free, family friendly activities at our Kids Corner (was that rock wall not amazing!!). Car enthusiasts enjoyed our ‘Classic Car and Truck Show’. The Great Big Beeton Bee Contest #2, presented by the BTBIA, was a tremendous success, generating ‘buzz’ throughout the day. An event like this takes a full year to plan. Countless hours from dedicated committee members, the support of local businesses, groups, the Town and many individuals Thank-you to the many volunteers who came out and helped the event run smoothly.
