Thornton splash pad gets approval

Essa council has given its approval to the purchase and installation of a splash pad at the Thornton arena beside the existing outside pad.
Council accepted the bid from Openspace Solutions in the amount of $107,590 plus GST. An additional $35,000 will be spent for the provision of a walkway to the pad, permanent picnic tables, a small gazebo and sod for the project.
Essa township installed its first splash pad in Angus in 2011 to widespread public support.
The bid from Openspace was the lowest of three submitted for the project.
