March Break offers kids some time off from school, but it doesn’t mean they should take a break from learning.
The Tiffin Centre’s March Break camp offers kids the chance to move away from screen time and explore the Centre’s 300-acre conservation area and learn about nature. During camp, kids will learn how they are connected to, and rely on the environment.
The camp is open to children ages five to 12.
This is an outdoor camp, and while lunch and breaks will be indoors, kids will be spending most of their time outdoors enjoying nature.
When attending, kids should be dressed appropriately for outdoor fun. This includes suitable outdoor clothing for winter activities like dressing in layers and wearing winter waterproof boots. Extra waterproof mittens or gloves are recommended.
Kids should also have a hat and snow pants, and bring a nut-free lunch, and healthy snacks.
Because activities are outdoors, leave cell phones and other valuables at home. These types of items can fall out of pockets and are easily lost in the woods.
The March Break camp offers a variety of fun activities including nature walks and forest exploration, winter games and crafts, shelter building, animal tracking and bird watching, and learning about maple syrup.
If weather permits, snowshoeing and kick sledding are popular activities. If the weather becomes unusually cold, there will be time indoors doing wooden crafts and investigating nature artifacts.
