TNT Express decides against activity this summer

July 30, 2020   ·   0 Comments

With team sports opening in stages, some sports are starting to get back into practice mode.

Some sports are now playing games; however, that includes restrictions and social distancing protocols the must be adhered to by both players and people who come out to watch the games.

Football, for the most part, has been cancelled this summer. No league games will be taking place at all.

There are few football teams who have decided to run clinics and training sessions.

However, training sessions will be limited.

Players won’t be suiting up in football gear. T-shirts, shorts, and cleats will be the uniform during practice sessions.

There will also be no physical contact during training sessions. Players will have to practice related skills and work on their plays during training as the regular blocking and hitting skills won’t be taking place on the gridiron.

Locally, the TNT Express Football Club have announced they won’t be hosting any sessions this year.

The Club made a statement on their Facebook page:

“TNT Express Football has always tried to keep the health and safety of our players foremost in our operations. Given the current Ministry of Health regulations as well as league directives we do not feel that it is in our players best interests to offer any type of program at this time. We want the TNT family to work together, like you always do, to get through these trying times and make sure that everyone is healthy and safe. We are monitoring league and government policies and will keep you up to date on possible return to play dates.”

It is doubtful that any football will take place at the high school level this year.

Most high school fall sports will most likely not take place.

Whether sports will resume for the winter remains to be seen.
