The TNT Tornados U10 AA team has earned the right to compete at the OMHA championship in Kingston after winning their YSHHL league playoff tournament this season.

The Tornados had a stellar year finishing the regular season in first place with a 19-1-4 record.

This is the second time in as many years this group has accomplished this. They did the same as a U9 team.

Going into the League championship, the Tornados were up against Barrie in the semi-final. Barrie scored first in that game early in the third period.

The Tornados battled back and tied the game to keep the momentum alive. With no more scoring, the teams returned to the ice for three-on-three overtime.

TNT scored the winning goal midway through the ten-minute OT period for the win.

The final game had the Tornados up against the Newmarket Renegades on Mar. 20 on home ice at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

Both teams knew it would be a real battle on the ice for the championship.

During the regular season, the two teams met four times, with both teams winning a game each and two of the games ending in a tie.

The championship game went into overtime. With neither team able to score, they returned for a double overtime period.

TNT scored three minutes into the double overtime period for the win and the championship. It was their second championship title in two years.

The team was backed by a large crowd that turned out to cheer them on.

The TNT Tornados U10 AA team will now travel to Kingston to compete in the OMHA championship from Mar. 31 to Apr. 2.
