The lights will go off on Saturday, March 29, at 8:30 p.m. in administration buildings throughout the municipality.
This will be done where safe and appropriate in honour of Earth Hour.
New Tecumseth will be joining major cities around the world by cutting power consumption for one hour to raise awareness about global warming.
Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 as 2.2 million residents turned off their lights to take a stand against climate change.
Since then, it has become an annual, globally observed event.
