Students from the University of Toronto medical school were in community last Wednesday to get a taste of rural life and practice. Hosted by the Alliston and Area Physician Recruitment Committee (AAPRC) and Stevenson Memorial Hospital, the students were in clinical sessions in the morning where they learned skills like intubation, suturing and how to start an IV. Later they went to the Museum on the Boyne for a history lesson delivered by Author, Ralph Braden. Then they went to the Haan View Farm/Sheldon Creek Dairy where a calf was the favorite attraction. The day ended with a special event at the Banting homestead and dinner hosted Dr. and Mrs. Gripper and the AAPRC. The University has described the annual day in New Tecumseth and Area as the “highlight” of their Family Medicine Week.
