The hometown darlings that are the Misfit Militia look to cap off a highly successful 2013 season as they travel in the Mecca of Roller Derby in Ontario to visit Toronto Roller Derby’s Bay St. Bruisers. This will be an exciting rematch between these two teams who are quite different from their last meeting in 2012.
The Bay St. Bruisers are one of only three teams to have claimed a victory over this unusually resilient small town group. The Bruiser claimed a narrow 10 point victory over the Militia at the 2012 RDAC Eastern Regional Tournament in Guelph, blocking the Militia’s first attempt at that coveted crown. The Bruisers went on to eventually win that tournament, while the Militia sputtered in their next contest losing again.
Since that time, the Misfit Militia have been on an absolute tear, nothcing wins over The BRute-Leggers from Guelph, the Total Knock Outs from Kitchener-Waterloo, Les Duchesses of Quebec City and most recently the Sirens out of Ottawa. In between all of that, the Militia also claimed their first Easter Regional title in June of this year.
Look for the Militia to come out strong against their toughest opponent of the season, which they will be doing without key jammer Randy-Roll-Lin, who had hear season cut short after an ankle injury sidelined her last month. Look for Smoka-Cola, MadMegz, Zombabe and Red Hot to step up their game. The blocking core will as always be the Misifts’ strength, with Renny Rumble, Nancy Noir, DezzSTROY-Her and Terry Bomb doing the damage.
Cheer your favourite Misift’s on by following the team on Facebook or make the short trip down to The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto to catch all the action live. This promises to be an explosive and close bout!
