Update: arrest made in homicide investigation

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the OPP with the assistance of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is continuing its investigation into the homicide of 39-year-old Herminder Bhandal, of Brampton. The victim was recovered from a burned vehicle in the area of Scotch Line and County Road 21 in Essa Township on Sunday August 25, at 6:15 a.m.
Three (3) persons were arrested and charged with First Degree Murder on August 30, as a result of the investigation that is being conducted under the direction of CIB Detective Inspector Colleen McCormick with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police Homicide Unit.
Over the Labour Day weekend the ongoing investigation resulted in two other persons being arrested and charged for First Degree Murder.
The names of the five accused in this case are not being released at this time as the investigation continues. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
