On August 16, at 11:30 pm, officers from the Nottawasaga OPP received a 911 call regarding a Robbery with a Weapon on Queen Street North in Tottenham.
The incident happened when a 55 year old male victim was entering the rear of his apartment on Queen Street and was approached by a young male with what appeared to be a handgun. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the victim, a small amount of cash was stolen from the victim and the suspect ran off. The victim received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Nottawasaga OPP arrested a 17 year old Town of New Tecumseth male, he is charged with one count of Robbery with a Weapon under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Further charges have been added to this male youth, he is also now charged with Theft Over $5000 from a motor vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and Disguise with Intent. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) the youth’s identity is protected and therefore his name will not be released.
