The Quilting Corners Guild held its premier event of the season, the ‘Stitching Among Friends Quilt Show’, at the Alliston Curling Club this past weekend.
Dozens of quilts, prepared by quilters of all ages and abilities, were on display for the delight of the general public and the quilting community.
The 3rd Annual quilt show was a more like an interactive art festival and those wearing white gloves were able to get up close and personal with the masterpieces on display.
The show also featured a Merchants’ Mall and Tea Room, as well as Bed and Cradle demonstrations.
In addition to providing a way for quilters to show off their work, the quilt show was also a way for the Quilting Corners Guild to spread the good news message about the not-for-profit organizations they support. Over the years, quilts have been provided to both My Sister’s Place, the local women and children’s shelter, and the Good Shepherd Food Bank to support the community year-round, and especially at Christmas.
Established in 2006, the Quilters Guild has 50 members and welcomes more. But be warned, several members told the Times that “quilting is addictive!”
