Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson has launched a petition that calls on the Liberal government to allow autistic children aged 5 and older access to Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) therapy.
“The Liberals need to do the right thing and support all autistic children,” Wilson said. “Autism doesn’t end at age 5. The government has let down children and their families and they need to fix that.”
On March 29, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced that autistic children aged 5 and older will be ineligible to receive Intensive Behavioral Intervention therapy.
“I’ve met with local families impacted by this cut and it’s devastating to them,” Wilson said. “I hope people will visit my website, print off the petition, sign it, and have their friends and family sign as well.”
Wilson’s website is at www.jimwilsonmpp.com. Copies of the petition are available by clicking on the “Petition” link on the right side of the main page. Constituents can also obtain copies from the Alliston constituency office at 180 Parsons Road, Unit 28, and the Collingwood constituency office at 50 Hume Street.
