The County of Simcoe will be hosting a virtual public information centre for residents to learn more about the new automated cart collection program that will begin on November 1, 2021.
The Information Centre is designed to provide information about the program and instructions on how to use the carts.
Residents are invited submit questions in advance.
The session will be live; however, only those questions submitted in advance will be addressed during the virtual presentation.
In the interests of time, questions received will be grouped into themes so an answer can be provided.
As over November 1, the County is moving to a new automated cart collection system for curbside waste.
Carts are currently used across North America because they are easier, safer, and provide better overall service to residents. In addition, residents will benefit from more space for waste, a reduced footprint for storage of the equivalent volume, a safer and more predictable service, as well as key environmental benefits.
Residents will begin to receive their three new carts starting in August.
There are many advantages to the automated cart system including, increased vertical storage space and it’s good for the environment with more room for organics.
Other benefits include lids on all carts that protect against windblown litter and animals.
The process is also safe for workers who collect the waste every week.
You can submit a question for the virtual event by visiting www.simcoe.ca/automatedcartpic.
The deadline to submit a question is July 18, at 11:59 p.m.
