The Alliston Hornets came out on top in both of their games over the weekend.

It was a welcome change for fans who had seen the Hornets lose three of their four previous games on the ice.

The Hornets took recent losses against the Stayner Siskins and Orillia Terriers, along with a 3-0 shutout against Penetang on Nov. 14.

The Alliston squad returned to the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, Nov. 21, to host the Orillia team in a rematch of their Nov. 15 game that saw the Hornets take a 4-2 loss.

It was a scoreless first period in Friday’s game.

However, the pucks started moving, and it was 3-0 for the Hornets at the end of the second period, as the local team dominated and started scoring.

Hornets’ goals came from Cameron Lamont, Will Hopcraft, and Mark Coish.

Alliston’s Tristen Pitt scored early in the final period to make it a 4-0 game.

The Terriers avoided the shutout when they scored late in the third period.

It was a 4-1 win for the Hornets.

The following night, Saturday, Nov. 22, the Hornets travelled to Bracebridge to take on the Muskoka Bears.

The Hornets delivered a devastating first period, scoring four unanswered goals.

Alliston’s goals came from Liam Carroll, John Rosato, Will Millington, and Duncan Grube.

The Bears got on the scoreboard with the only second-period goal.

It was a 4-2 game when Muskoka scored at the 15:37 mark in the third period.

Alliston’s Rosato got his second goal of the night with 2:11 remaining in the game to give the Hornets a 5-2 win.

The Hornets remain in first place in the North Carruthers Division with a 16-3 record and 32 points.

They are followed by the Stayner Siskins with 28 points, the Orillia Terriers with 24, and the Penetang Kings with 22 points.

The Hornets will be back on home ice at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, Nov. 28, when they will host the Huntsville Otters.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
