Three charged

On April 20, at 4:30 a.m., the Nottawasaga OPP conducted a vehicle stop on County Road 90 near George Johnston Road. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested with drugs in view of officers, one male fled from the vehicle throwing a weapon. Police contained the area and with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and uniform members of Nottawasaga OPP, the male was located and arrested. Police located and seized a 9mm handgun. The Nottawasaga OPP have charged 28 year old Toronto resident Mackenzie Seraphin with one count of Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm and Fail to Comply with Recognizance under the Criminal Code of Canada. This male was held for a Bail hearing over the weekend and has now been remanded to April 23, in Barrie at the Ontario Court of Justice with further charges pending. The driver of the vehicle was 28 year old Barrie resident, Courtney Noftall, and she was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and released with an upcoming court date. The passenger in the vehicle, 27 year old Amanda Giles from Barrie, was charged with Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (CCC) and Possession of a Schedule II Substance under the CDSA, she has a court date of May 22, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.
