A local resident has been recognized with an award from the Town of New Tecumseth for her fundraising efforts on behalf of local organizations.

Olivia Zaple received the award from New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross at Council Chambers on Feb. 24.

The local student raised funds in support of Liv’s Library and the Alliston & District Humane Society.

Olive organized several events, including an open house, Monster Mash, and a week-long Halloween fundraiser. She also created a GoFundMe account to further her mission.

Her Christmas wreath fundraiser was particularly remarkable, as she raised $700 entirely through donations from local businesses.

Thanks to Olivia’s commitment, $2,700 was contributed to the Alliston & District Humane Society’s naming opportunity, as well as to essential veterinary care, food, toys, and sound machines.

An additional $2,000 was raised for Liv’s Library.

Olivia is being recognized for her efforts and achievements in helping these local organizations.
