CONTACT Community Services has announced its third annual online auction will take place from Dec. 12 to Dec. 19, 2024.

A Home for the Holidays auction will raise funds for CONTACT’s Community Hope Chest Initiative.

“Nothing captures the true spirit of the holidays more than when your purchases help support those in need within your community,” said CONTACT’s Board Chair, Jennifer Lloyd. “In the past two years, this event has successfully raised over $22,000 to support this initiative, and this year we aim to gather $10,000 to assist families in need within our community. Given the increasing cost of living, this fundraiser is essential in aiding those who are facing challenges in making ends meet.”

The online auction will feature a variety of unique and desirable items, exceptional experiences, and services donated by individuals, businesses, and local artisans.

From once-in-a-lifetime adventures to handcrafted pieces and culinary experiences, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Interim executive director Brenda Pufek emphasized the importance of technology in creating an inclusive event where everyone can support the cause.

“We are thrilled to present this special holiday opportunity, allowing you to shop and support from the comfort of your home,” Ms. Pufek said. “This online auction would not be possible without the generous contributions of our donors, supporters, and participants who have united to create a meaningful impact in the lives of our neighbours.”

The Community Hope Chest plays a crucial role in providing assistance to those in crisis and making a significant impact on their lives. This fundraising initiative is an integral component of service delivery, allowing CONTACT to step up when other funding is not available and in times of crisis.

The impact this has on the lives of recipients is game-changing when people come into hard times.

“I was late on bills, specifically phone and cable , one of which is essential for communication,” said one Community Hope Chest recipient. “Any leftover funds I used for food. It was an easy process and much needed support. It allowed me to get caught up on bills and get back on track.”

CONTACT is committed to dignity-driven support, where people can access the Hope Chest discreetly when the need arises.
