Adjala-Tosorontio council has deferred a bylaw which would have allowed the establishment of the township’s first medical marijuana facility.
Council made the decision to defer the bylaw until concerns about site plan control raised by neighbouring residents and councillors about site plan control for the facility which is to be located on the Mulmur-Adjala-Tosorontio Townline on part of the Lot 23 and 24, former Township of Tosorontio are answered.
The facility would be located on property owned by Enderlein Nurseries.
Deputy Mayor Doug Little said that he shared concerns about traffic, odour and other issues raised during the time for ratepayers section of the meeting.
“I know that the federal government has the ultimate control over this facility but I’d like to see sort of site plan and find out what controls that we do have on this proposal,” he said.
The Township’s planner will bring back a report to the June meeting of council.
