The Alliston Hornets are back in second place after a weekend win over the Orillia Terriers.

With 19 points, the Hornets are now one point behind the first-place Stayner Siskins and one point ahead of the Schomberg Cougars. The Cougars gave up a loss to Stayner during their Thursday night home game which allowed the Alliston squad to move up one spot in the standings.

The Hornets were scheduled to play in Midland against the Flyers on Saturday night but that game was postponed.

The Friday night home game against the Orillia Terriers delivered a lopsided scoring event for the first two periods.

Alliston’s Owen Fralick scored just 53 seconds into the first period.

That was followed by a second Hornets goal at the 13:44 mark from Ben Taylor.

The second period ended with a 5-0 Alliston lead after they scored three more unanswered goals.

The Hornets’ goals came from Jakob Power, Jack Micone, and Owen Fralick.

Going into the final period, the Hornets were ahead by six when Patrick Light hit the back of the net.

The Terriers avoided the shutout and got on the scoreboard with two quick goals at the midway mark in the period.

Alliston’s Logan Shanna finished off the scoring for the night with a goal in the final minute and a half of the game.

The Hornets picked up two more points with the 7-2 win.

A check on players’ stats for the season so far has forward, Jack Micone, leading in the points column. Micone has eight goals after 12 games and 15 assists.

Andrew Maltby has recorded six goals after 11 times on the ice and is leading assists with 17 to his credit.

Cole Turcotte is having a good season with ten goals after nine games to lead scoring for the Hornets, along with ten assists to his credit.

The Hornets will be on the road for three games, before returning to home ice on Friday, Nov. 18, to host the Penetang Kings.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
