The Alliston Hornets eliminated the Muskoka Bears in their best-of-seven quarter-final North Carruthers Division playoff series.
This wasn’t much of a match-up for a playoff series.
The Hornets finished the regular season with a 40-2 record and both of those losses came on shoot-outs.
The Bears managed to win only six games all season and two of those wins came on shoot-outs after regulation overtime failed to determine a winner.
Game one of the Alliston versus Muskoka series got underway on Bears home ice on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and ended with a 9-1 win for the Hornets.
Game two on Alliston home ice ended with a 12-1 Hornets win.
Game three of the series saw the Hornets blank the Bears 6-0 in Muskoka.
Returning to Alliston for game four, the series was over when the Hornets hammered the Bears 12-1 in game four.
In other Carruthers Division playoff quarter-finals, the Orillia Terriers are leading the Midland Flyers 2-0.
Orillia finished the regular season in second place with a 35-7 record.
Game three of that series was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25, with results not available at press times.
In the Stayner Siskins versus Innisfil Spartans series, they are tied at one.
Innisfil came out on top, 2-1 in the first game on Feb. 20.
The Siskins tied the series with a 4-2 win in the second game.
Game three is slated for Feb. 27.
The Penetang Kings are up against the Huntsville Otters in their first round of action.
Penetang took a 4-3 win in game one of the series. Huntsville fought back in game two and left with a 4-2 win to even the series.
Game three of the Penetang versus Huntsville series will get underway on Feb. 26.
In the semi-final round, the Hornets will be up against the winner of the Penetang versus Huntsville series.
