Alliston Hornets win home opener against Penetang Kings 6-2

The junior hockey season is underway in New Tecumseth, and local fans were treated to a win at the Alliston Hornets home opener against the Penetang Kings on Friday, Sept. 18.
There was a good-sized crowd at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre to watch the Hornets usher in a new season.
The Kings scored the opening goal at 5:11 into the first period.
It was a tie game when Will Hipcraft scored the first Hornets goal of the season just 10 seconds into the second period.
Logan Jackson followed up three minutes later with a second Hornets goal to give the Alliston squad a 2-1 lead.
Hipcraft scored his second of the night with 48 seconds left in the second period to give Alliston a 3-1 lead.
The Hornets really came alive in the third period, scoring three goals in just under four minutes.
Alliston’s goals came from Tristen Pitt, Logan Jackson, and Nick Lamont.
The Kings scored with 12:57 left on the clock in the third.
The final was a 6-2 win for the Hornets to start the season.
The Hornets took 12 minutes in minor penalties for the game. The Kings were in the box for six minutes on minors.
The Hornets will have two road games on Sept. 26 and 27, against the Muskoka Bear and the Huntsville Otters.
They will be back on home ice at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, Oct. 2, when they will host the Innisfil Spartans.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
