In the theme of “We Serve”, the Alliston Lions Club will host its annual Boyne River Classic Duck Race on Saturday, September 3, starting at 10 a.m., with funds raised during the event being used to fuel community programs.

The Duck Race, where numbered plastic ducks race to the finish line along the Boyne River, will start at the Riverdale Park Bandshell.

Five heats will determine the winners – based on the first duck to cross the finish line – with the initial heat beginning at 10:30 a.m. The family friendly event also offers a charity barbecue, games for the kids and a bouncy castle.

Duck Race tickets can be purchased through any Alliston Lions Club member for $10 each, or online at allistonlions.ca.

“Only 800 tickets will be printed,” Alliston Lion George Bik told The Times. “The first duck to cross the finish line in the Champions Race, following the first five heats, will win $750. The second Prize is $500, third prize is $250 and seventeen runner-up prizes of $50 will also be awarded.”

Organizations receiving net proceeds from the 2022 Boyne River Classic Duck Race are: Stevenson Memorial Hospital Diabetic Clinic, Diabetes Canada, Diabetes Canada Camp Huronda and the All–Wheels Legacy Park Project, Alliston.

“Please consider supporting the Alliston Lions and the local organizations benefiting from the proceeds of this event,” said Bik.

The Alliston Lions Club has hosted its Boyne River Classic Duck Race since the 1990s.
