Alliston man charged with “Fail to Remain”

On Sunday, July 30, at approximately 9:54 p.m., officers from the Caledon OPP were dispatched to a collision on Caledon King Townline S, south of Castlederg Sideroad.
Officers arrived on scene to find a beige 2007 Lexus E35 on its roof top east of the roadway and a red 2015 Honda Fit on the west side of the road. Preliminary investigation reveals that the Lexus was travelling southbound on Caledon King Townline S and the Honda was travelling northbound when the two vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the Honda was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the passenger from within that vehicle was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus fled the scene of the collision.
Roland McDowall, 43, of Alliston has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada: Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Bodily Harm (x 2) and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm (x 2).
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 31, 2017.
