Three main streets in Alliston will benefit from road resurfacing and infrastructure improvements later in the summer.

The Town of New Tecumseth is investing in important road and sidewalk improvements in downtown Alliston to enhance road conditions, improve accessibility, and increase safety for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Fermar Paving Ltd., on behalf of the town, will be completing road resurfacing and related infrastructure improvements on Victoria Street from Industrial Road to King Street North; on King Street from Victoria Street West to Young Street; and on Young Street from King Street South to 208 Young Street.

Sidewalk and concrete rehabilitation work is expected to take place throughout the summer. Road resurfacing operations are anticipated to begin following the Alliston Potato Festival in August.

The work will include:

• Replacement of select damaged curbs, gutters, and sidewalks

• Accessibility upgrades at select intersections and pedestrian crossings

• Repairs to catch basins and maintenance hole covers

• Removal of existing asphalt and road resurfacing

• Installation of new pavement markings, crosswalks, and parking stall lines

• Protection of trees and other community assets within the construction area

The Town and contractor will make every effort to minimize disruptions during construction.

Residents and visitors can expect:

• One lane of traffic to remain open during working hours

• Two lanes of traffic are available outside of working hours whenever possible

• Safe pedestrian access maintained throughout construction

• Continued access to homes and businesses whenever feasible

• Temporary driveway access interruptions, with advanced notice provided to affected property owners

• Uninterrupted access for emergency services at all times

To improve efficiency and reduce daytime traffic impacts, paving activities will be scheduled for overnight hours.
