An Angus man and his two friends from Barrie will all find their retirement years a little easier after winning big in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw on July 16.

Clarence Kennedy from Angus, Kenneth Maw and Kurt Lawler, both from Barrie, are all retirees who used to work together and still enjoyed playing LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX as a group.

It was Kennedy’s turn to purchase their tickets, and he happened to have another ticket with him that had to be checked, according to an OLG press release from Nov. 7.

The ticket was a $1 million winner.

“When I saw the screen said ‘BIG WINNER,’ it was like a dream,” Maw said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up the group’s windfall.

“He called me to share the news, and it took a while to believe it,” Maw said.

Lawler added, “I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’”

The group members all had similar reactions to their big win – they were all shaking in disbelief.

With his share of the winnings, Kennedy plans to invest, treat himself to a new Mustang, and help out his grandchildren.

Maw plans to go to Ireland to relax and help out his grandchildren.

Lawler said he plans to help out his children and grandchildren.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada on Queensway East in Mississauga.
