Annual Alliston Potato Festival returns this weekend

It is an annual tradition in Alliston where thousands of people turn out to watch the parade through the downtown core on Friday night, followed by three days of fun, music, events, and community spirit.

The Alliston Potato Festival has been a family-focused event since 1973 and has continuously been supported by the Rotary Club of Alliston and the Alliston Lions Club.  

The celebrations kick off on Friday, August 8, with the always fantastic Potato Festival Parade down Victoria Street at 7:00 p.m.    

The party continues on Victoria Street as the area will be closed to traffic.

During the evening, events will get underway at various locations including the Fairgrounds.

Texas Hold’em Poker will take place a the Alliston Curling Rink for anyone who feels it may be their lucky night.

The midway at the Fairgrounds is a popular spot with rides and games.

The beer gardens will host several bands over the weekend.

It will be a fun day, all day on Saturday, beginning with a pancake breakfast at St. John’s United Church on Victoria Street.

A Classic Car show featuring vintage, classic, and modified vehicles will take place on Victoria Street.

The street festival on Victoria Street includes a marketplace, buskers, and lots of food.

A the Fairgrounds there will be entertainment all day long, including the Team K-9 Agility Dog Show, the Strutt Your Mutt talent show, and the popular Just Sing Competition finale.

On Sunday, the fun continues with the Baby Show early in the morning.

Throughout the day, there will be a Martial Arts demonstration, a vintage fire truck show, a lumberjack show, and a lot more music.

The Alliston Potato Festival has fun for the entire family over three exciting days during one of the best festivals in Ontario.
