It is time to start practicing your technique if you plan on entering this year’s JAK Fund Washer Toss event.
You can practice your thumb-and-finger technique, or, for more advanced players, try adding a pinky finger to give the washer a special spin.
The annual event is hosted by the JAK Fund in memory of a local teen who died in a tragic automobile accident.
“Our main fundraiser is the Washer Toss Tournament in Tottenham,” explained Margaret Anne Smith, one of the organizers. “All the money we raise goes back to the community.”
The funds raised are donated to several local charitable causes.
If you haven’t tried Waster Toss, it’s a game as simple as it sounds. Competitors toss washers at a target and get points for where the washer lands.
You have to stand behind a line when tossing so everyone has the same advantage. Teams line up across the arena floor when the games get started.
This is the eighth year the Washer Toss will take place. The first year it was held in the gym at the Tottenham Community Centre; however, the event became so popular that it had to be moved to the arena floor.
Last year, there were over 120 teams entered.
The event has become wildly popular. This year, registration for the Washer Toss sold out in six hours.
The 2026 JAK Fund Washer Toss will take place in the Tottenham Community Centre arena on April 11.
