If it’s the zing in your food that makes all the difference, you will enjoy the products from Antonia’s Kitchen.

LeeAnn Medeiros-Gallo and Victoria Gallo of Antonia’s Kitchen brought their Portuguese-inspired sauces, pickles, peppers, jellies, and jams to the Tottenham Vendor and Farmer’s Market on Sunday, Aug. 11.

You may have heard the term, Piri Piri, or seen those words advertised in restaurants, but a lot of people don’t know what that really means.

“Piri Piri – means pepper,” LeeAnne explained. “It’s a pepper sauce, like a marinade. We started with the piri piri sauce with the original recipe [that] was my grandmother’s and we expanded from there.”

Antonia’s Kitchen features a whole variety of products that your taste buds will thank you for. Their sauces and marinades are flavourful and make a wonderful addition to anything you are making.

“We have the original sauce from my grandmother’s recipe, and I just created my own habanero hot sauce,” LeeAnn explained. “It’s not piri piri, it’s just hot sauce. We have pepper jellies and sweet jams, and candied jalapenos. The sauce is a marinade and a dipping sauce. With the marinade, you roast the chicken and brush on the marinade as it cooks.”

There is a variety of pickled items like pickled vegetables.

“We have pickled vegetables and we get the vegetables from local farmers,” LeeAnn said. “We make things according to the season.”

They even have their own soup starters.

“You can put the soup starter into the pot, add water, and the instructions are on the back,” LeeAnn explained. “You can add any kind of chicken or protein that you want. Or it can be vegetarian, if someone has dietary restrictions.”

LeeAnn has been creating these types of sauces since she was a child and began cooking with her grandmother.

All of LeeAnn’s products are delicious and will add some extra zesty flavour to your cooking.

Currently, her products are available in two retail stores – one on the Queensway in Toronto, as well as at the Simcoe Makers Market Boutique in Alliston.

Antonia’s Kitchen products are also available online and you can see the entire line-up at: www.antoniaskitchen.ca
