The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held their AGM and presented the Stevenson Foundation with a cheque for $25,000 to benefit the Refurbish a Room Campaign. The money was raised by the dedicated auxiliary volunteers that work year-round to fundraise for the hospital through the Auxiliary Gift Shop, Coffee Corner, and local community events.
This year, the Auxiliary held their annual Tag Day on June 3 and raised $6,345 for Stevenson Memorial Hospital. Tag Day is a community event organized by auxiliary volunteers, who wear blue vests on the day and are stationed outside local business to collect donations and raise funds by “tagging” donors as supporters of health care in our community. The auxiliary team had a strong presence with 52 volunteers “tagging” donors at 17 locations across New Tecumseth including Alliston, Beeton, Tottenham, Cookstown and Angus.
“Thank you to the Tag Day Auxiliary volunteers who committed over 147 hours selling tags in the community, and it is because of their dedication that made this the most successful Tag Day to date,” remarked Gary Munro, auxiliary Tag Day convenor.
The Refurbish a Room Campaign focuses on replacing the window blinds, privacy curtains and tracks, bedside tables and beds with the goal of increasing patients’ comfort, privacy and their ability to get much-needed rest, which is crucial to their recovery. Thanks to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, their contribution will help significantly to refurbish all the patient areas in the Medical Surgical Unit over a period of five years.
The auxiliary will be hosting the 4th annual Fall Craft Show on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Alliston Royal Canadian Legion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The craft show will feature a collection of local artists, vendors and baked goods available for purchase benefiting the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
