Banting girls’ soccer teams compete at SCAA championships

The Banting Memorial High School Marauders girl’s soccer program had a stellar season with both the junior and senior teams undefeated going in the regular season.

Junior

The Marauders girl’s junior team was 6-0 in the regular season scoring a whopping 34 goals over those five games to earn first place.

They won their first semi-final playoff game 3-0 over Nantyr Shores on Wednesday, May 22. That set them up to go to the Simcoe County Athletic Association final. In the final, they were up against the second-place team from Collingwood Collegiate on the soccer pitch at Banting on Friday, May 24. Both teams played a solid game in the final, but Collingwood got the edge and won 7-5.

Senior

The Marauders senior girl’s team was undefeated in the regular season with a 7-0-1 record and first place in the standings. They scored 45 goals over eight regular season games.

Going into the playoffs they won 6-0 over Eastview in the quarter-final game on Wednesday, May 15.

They went on to defeat the Barrie North Vikings in a semi-final game on Wednesday, May 22.

The final game for the SCAA championship had the Banting girls up against Bradford District Secondary School on the pitch at Banting on Friday, May 24.

A single goal made the difference, and Bradford claimed the title with a 2-1 win.
