Banting Varsity baseball team has stellar season

The Banting Memorial High School Marauders Varsity boys baseball team are having a stellar season competing in Tier 1 competition in the South Simcoe Athletic Association season.

The squad was undefeated after six regular season games and landed in first place in the East division and overall in the 14 team league.

Going into playoffs, the Marauders continued to steamroll through.

Banting has score 63 runs over the six games while allowing only 17 against in the regular season.

The squad got off to a good start this year, blanking Bear Creek 10-0 in their season opener on May 3. They followed up with a 13-3 win over Nottawasaga Pines later in the day on the first day of high school competition.

On May 10, they squeezed a two-run game over Stayner to win 8-6.

A home game at Riverdale Park in Alliston gave the Marauders an 11-3 win over Collingwood to make it a 4-0 season.

Two more wins in the regular season completed the undefeated season.

In the playoffs, the Marauder came out on top in their first game against Eastview with a 14-4 win. They followed up with a 5-2 win over Innisdale in the semi-final game.

The Marauders finally took a loss in the playoff final when the team from Bradford, who finished first in their division won 12-2 over the Banting team to end the season.
