When Taylor Price takes the stage, she performs with energy and a polished style with both her acoustic and electric guitars.

Taylor plays a mix of cover tunes and original music. She performed to an appreciative audience at the Music in the Park series at Keogh Park in Tottenham on July 28, and won the crowd over with her solo effort.

“I’m an aspiring musician,” is how Taylor describes herself. “I’m in school for music production. I’m at Western and I’m there for pop music and business. Music production is mainly making background music, but pop music covers everything.”

Taylor started out singing in her church. She actually trained in opera and auditioned at York University doing all opera. She was accepted based on her talent, but decided to take a different route focused on her own style, production, and song writing.

Taylor started performing three years ago.

“I started performing in high school,” Taylor explained. “I’m going into my second year of university. I reached out to Dayne (organizer of Music in the Park) and he offered me this spot. I took it because I love it and missed it. I grew up with this type of music.”

Taylor split her performance between cover tunes and original music. One of the songs she performed she wrote when she was 16 years old.

The Beeton resident is not yet fully committed to an area of music production as there are several paths she can take – but she knows she wants to work in the music industry.

“I’m figuring it out as I go,” Taylor said. “A dream of mine would be to open a jazz coffee shop. I love jazz. I would love to open a cafe with a stage, and music studios in the back. I’d like to help other people write songs.”

Taylor enjoys performing but has a special interest in writing and the ‘behind the scenes’ side of the music industry including producing.

Her performance at Music in the Park was well received by the audience who enjoyed her vocals and talent on the guitar.

Taylor hopes to perform at more venues in the region and will continue studying music at school when she returns in the fall.
