Blood donor clinics coming to Alliston, Tottenham

Canadian Blood Services will be hosting donor clinics in New Tecumseth in January.

Donating blood or plasma is a small act of kindness that can make all the difference for patients in your community and across the country.

It takes thousands of blood and plasma donors to save patients’ lives throughout Canada. Canadian Blood Services is continuously reviewing and updating donor screening criteria. You may be eligible now, even if you weren’t previously.

There are many ways to support this initiative.

You can become a blood, platelet, or plasma donor. You can join the stem cell registry and register your intent to donate your organs in tissues.

You can also volunteer your time and share the Lifeline message on your social channels.

Being a financial donor makes a difference. Whether it’s through recruiting more first-time blood and plasma donors who help patients today or by driving research that will transform the lives of patients tomorrow, financial donations will impact lives across the country.

There is no substitute for donated blood or plasma; patients across Canada depend on these life essentials daily. Donors are needed every week – even during the holidays – to ensure hospitals have the vital products needed for everyday care and emergencies.

If you decide to make an appointment to donate, try to keep that pledge. Missing or cancelled appointments at this time of year are difficult to fill.

If you need to cancel, please let Canadian Blood Services know so someone else can take your place.

There are two upcoming blood donor clinics in New Tecumseth.

There will be a clinic at the Tottenham Community Centre on Saturday, Jan. 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In Alliston, there will be a clinic on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Alliston Memorial Arena from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
