BMO Financial Group presented its first instalment of $86,000 to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation in support of the “Because of you, we can” campaign to redevelop the hospital.
The installment is part of a $430,000 pledge the Financial institution made in 2021 that will be made over a period of five years.
“BMO has been an advocate for Stevenson for many years, having contributed to the hospital’s urgent needs in the past,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF). “Their unparalleled support of the Because of you, we can Campaign, has helped move the redevelopment forward. It is because of loyal donors like BMO that our community will benefit from exceptional health care close to home. We are very grateful for their impactful gift.”
The “Because of you, we can” Campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans.
“We recognize the importance of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital to the Simcoe region and its residents,” said Wendy Cooke, Regional Vice-President, Vaughan, York and Simcoe, BMO Bank of Montreal. “BMO is driven by our Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life which extends to our communities and in this case, building a strong health-care facility to foster the well-being of our community member.”
This kind of support is critical as the increasing demands on SMH continue to grow due to expanding populations, as well as the additional needs of the pandemic, putting immense pressure on this essential community resource.
