Many people may like the thought of purchasing a rural property with a stream or river running through the area.
It can provide a picturesque locale and allow people to connect to nature through a variety of experiences.
However, if someone is planning to buy a property regulated by a conservation authority, they should understand what that regulation means and how it can affect property use.
The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority will be hosting an open house for realtors and solicitors to provide information on what it means for a property to be regulated by a conservation authority.
During the open house, members of the NVCA will explain what a regulated area means, and what it means for a property to be regulated.
Information will be provided about what can and cannot be developed in an NVCA-regulated area, and what information is required for a development application.
Attendees will also learn how potential buyers can get more information about a property.
The open house will take place on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation at 8195 8th Line in Utopia.
There is no fee to attend; however, advance registration is required.
You can register by visiting the NVCA website at www.nvca.on.ca
