Caledon Home and Lifestyle Show returns

September 2, 2021   ·   0 Comments

Showcasing local businesses, and bringing the community flavour back to town is the new and improved Caledon Home and Lifestyle Show.

The event, running September 10 to 12, is billed as a “landmark” event as it becomes not only the first consumer show, but possibly the only one in the GTA and its rim communities in 2021.

The unprecedented real estate boom and equally robust move to remote working and/or a hybrid, plus exponential rise in home value and prices has created a flood of both home-owner motivation and skyrocketing business for home related suppliers and services.

“Fall has become the ideal (a.k.a. critical) time to plan and book projects for 2022,” said veteran consumer show producer Liz Shaughnessy. “Kind of a front-of-the-line reality for enthusiastic new home owners and current residents who now view their homes as a great appreciating asset with huge net gain for re-investment like renovation, design and landscaping and the energy-efficiency with updated roofing, windows and doors, home heating and more.”

Buy local has strong resonance across the GTA and rim communities, couples with consumer “retail-therapies” as Ontario’s roll-out of COVID-19 Stage 3 enables non-essential retailers to re-open to enthusiastic customers.

The buy-local context was a key motive for presenting sponsor, The Caputo Group, Royal LePage RCR Realty.

“As realtors, we don’t just sell houses … we sell communities,” said Anthony Caputo, team leader for The Caputo Group. “Supporting the local businesses which create character and fortify lifestyle in our communities are key components for home buyers.”

Recognizing the growing market of do-it-yourselfers, Peel Hardware was an early adopter to the show’s concept becoming both a sponsor and exhibitor to the show with the expert advice, tools and products for ambitions DIYers to get the job done right.

Caledon Meals On Wheels was the show’s charitable recipient from the event’s early conception in spring 2019. Providing more than just food to seniors and the disabled in their homes across Caledon and its neighboring communities was a mammoth job during the 11+ months of COVID-19 lockdown.

In lieu of paid admission to the Home and Lifestyle Show, visitors are encouraged to make donations to CMOW at the show. Opening night will also recognize CMOW’s valuable role during the COVID-19 lockdown with a $15 wristband purchased at the show, enabling the visitor to sip n savour in the designated area at the show as they browse the show for idea’s, inspiration and sources for their home project plans.

The 2021 Home and Lifestyle Show will be run under COVID-19 safety protocols mandated by the Ontario government with masks, sanitization and social distancing being observed plus “state of the art” contact tracing provided by GuestLog, a seamless app which holds secured information for 30 days only.

The Home and Lifestyle Show is pet-friendly with free admission and parking.

The event will be held at the Albion Bolton Community Centre all three days. It runs 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 10; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday September 12.
