Civics shut out Wiarton

The New Tecumseth Civics hosted the Wiarton Rock at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre Nov. 10. The Civics dominated the game leaving the ice with a 9-0 shutout over the visitors to win their 19th straight game.

The New Tecumseth Civics won their nineteenth game in a row to keep their undefeated streak for the season intact.
The Civics shut out the Wiarton Rock on Thursday (Nov. 10) night in a game that saw the New Tec team dominate the ice for the full three periods.
It didn’t take the Civics long to get things going when Cullen Bonnel scored a shorthanded goal just 1:09 into the first period of Thursday’s game.
They capitalized on a power play seven minutes later when Illya Kolmykov took the feed from Danila Rybin to score the second game of the night.
New Tecumseth’s Carmine Vietri scored the third first period goal with four minutes left on the clock.
The game was pretty much over in the second period with four more Civics goals from Cameron Cruickshank, Rodion Diakin, Rusian Zabulonov, and Nikita Sidenko.
Returning for the final period, the Civics finished off the night scoring two more from Cruickshank and Diakin – giving both players two goals for the night and ending the game 9-0 for the Civics win.
After 19 games the Civics are undefeated for the season and have a solid first place in the Greater Metro Hockey League standings.
The Niagara Whalers are in second place with a 16-1 record followed by the Kingsville Kings in third spot with a 14-3 record.
The Civics will return to home ice tonight, Thursday, Nov. 17, to host the Seguin Hukies at the New Tec Rec Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
