On Friday July 22, 2022, Royal LePage RCR Realty hosted a charity barbecue benefitting the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Alliston with their purchase of a refrigerated cargo van and CONTACT Community Services towards ongoing programs.
In all, $632 was raised, with food and supplies – hamburgers, hot dogs, and cold drinks – donated by Frank Gray of Royal LePage RCR Realty.
Cooks for the day were John McCague, Kelly McCague and Wanda Rose, while Kristin French, Jaime Karsch, Cindy Curry, Karey Salem, Jolie Dewdney and administrator Elinor Johnson ran food and handled cash and donations.
Organizers report a wide range of people attended – from clients and family members, to other real estate agents, local business people, and members of the community.
Proceeds from the day will be split equally during a cheque presentation planned for later in August.
Johnson told The Times that the Royal LePage RCR Realty Charity Committee selected the charities to support.
“CONTACT was a new charity our branch picked this year, and the campaign to fund a refrigerated van for The Good Shepherd Food Bank was new for 2022 as well,” said Johnson. “We have hosted charity barbecues in the past, pre-COVID, and have done extremely well. Some years are better than others, and this year we had hoped for a larger turn out but plan to host another fundraiser mid-August.”
Johnson went on to say, “At Royal LePage RCR Realty we are committed to giving back to our community and helping people find their dream home”.
Royal LePage RCR Realty is located at 7 Victoria Street West in Alliston. For more information about upcoming events, or to find out how you can assist the Charity Committee call 705 435-3000.
