CONTACT Community Services will be holding its 3rd Annual Grand Parade fundraising walk in support of seniors in need in South Simcoe and Collingwood.

This event aims to increase awareness and raise funds to provide essential services and resources for local seniors.

With over 47 years of dedicated service in the community, CONTACT understands the unique challenges faced by seniors, including rising rent costs, food insecurity, isolation and loneliness.

CONTACT is committed to ensuring that seniors receive the necessary support to lead healthy, fulfilling lives as they age.

The Grand Parade is a family-friendly national event that unites the community for a day filled with fun, food, and entertainment.

Local organizations, businesses, community members and government representatives will come together to participate and raise funds for this cause.

“We are excited to host The Grand Parade in support of seniors in need,” said Tina de los Santos, executive director of CONTACT Community Services. “The Grand Parade is more than a walk: it’s a powerful show of love from a community that refuses to leave its seniors behind.”

Taking place at three locations, participants will walk a two-kilometre route and enjoy a complimentary light lunch. Those who raise over $150, or $75 for youth, will proudly wear the iconic TGP shirts during the event.

Prizes will be awarded for categories including Most Raised as an Individual, Most Raised as a Team, and Best Team Spirit. Costumes are encouraged.

“We invite everyone to join us in making this event a tremendous success,” said Brenda Pufek, manager of community engagement and Development at CONTACT. “We are part of some of the most compassionate communities, and I am confident that our local residents will demonstrate to the rest of Canada what this truly signifies during the event.”

The Grand Parade walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the following locations:

  • Mill Street in downtown Alliston.
  • 425 Holland Street West in Bradford.
  • Harbourview Park, 2 Water Street in Collingwood.
