The County of Simcoe has approved 78 grant applications, totalling approximately $400,000, through the 2023 Tourism, Culture, and Sport Enhancement Fund.
The program aims to enhance existing tourism, culture and sports projects throughout the County.
“Tourism, culture, and sport are a huge part of the Simcoe County lifestyle, as well as being a major attraction to our region for millions of people each year,” said Country Warden Basil Clarke. “Through the Tourism, Culture and Sport Fund we’re building up our local businesses, economy, and communities.”
The County received 110 applications for grants in 2023. These applications requested more than $700,000 in financial support.
Through the funding, the County is building up and supporting and enhancing tourism, culture and sport by investing in initiatives that promote awareness, access, participation and appreciation of the diverse tourism, culture and sports offerings within Simcoe.
The grants also encourage industry collaboration and partnerships, enhance the visitor experience by supporting innovation and accessible programming, build organizational capacity in tourism, culture, and sports organizations, and contribute to the County’s overall economic health and sense of place.
The Tourism, Culture, and Sport Enhancement Fund is the result of a merger between the Simcoe County Tourism Development Fund and the Arts, Culture and Heritage Grant. It is accessible to municipalities and not-for-profit organizations within Simcoe County.
