As communities across Canada recognized National Seniors Day, the County of Simcoe is shining a spotlight on the individuals, businesses, and organizations that help make Simcoe County a more inclusive, accessible, and supportive place for older adults.
The county has honoured them through its annual Age-Friendly Recognition Awards.
Through the county’s Age-Friendly Community Program, nominations were accepted over the summer and reviewed by the Age-Friendly Committee. This year’s honourees represent communities from across the region, including New Tecumseth, Collingwood, Midland, Wasaga Beach, Penetanguishene, Clearview, Barrie and Orillia.
National Seniors Day is observed on Oct. 1. This is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions that older adults make to our families, workplaces, and communities.
The County’s Age-Friendly Recognition Awards reflect his spirit by highlighting residents and organizations that are helping create a region where people can age with dignity, connection, and purpose.
