The County of Simcoe Paramedic Services celebrated the achievements of its dedicated team members during its annual Commencement and Honours Ceremony held on Nov. 14.

The event recognized new recruits, employees marking significant career advancements, and individuals who received Chief’s Commendations.

For only the second time in its history, the Legacy Award – the highest internal honour – was presented to two deserving individuals.

Primary Care Paramedic, Jeff Page and Deputy Chief Shane Smith were honoured.

“Our County of Simcoe paramedics play a vital role in our emergency response system, and the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Simcoe County Warden Basil Clarke. “Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion to those in need is nothing short of extraordinary. This event allows us to take a moment to recognize and thank them for the countless lives they touch, and for the courage and professionalism they demonstrate every day in the face of adversity, while welcoming in the next generation of paramedics.”

Paramedic Services employs full and part-time advanced and primary care paramedics, supervisors and support staff. Paramedics provide emergency medical response and community support to Simcoe County residents using 42 ambulances and Rapid Response Units across the region during peak times.

“It’s truly a privilege to congratulate our newest recruits and those celebrating important milestones in their careers,” said Sarah Mills, Director and Chief County of Simcoe Paramedic Service. “Their commitment to this profession, dedication to serving others, and passion for making a difference in our communities is inspiring. Today, we celebrate not just their achievements, but the incredible impact our Paramedics will have in the lives of those who need us most.”
