At approximately 9:23 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 27, Nottawasaga OPP received a report of a two vehicle collision on County Road 10 (Tottenham Road) between the 5th and 6th Line of New Tecumseth.
Upon arrival, police were advised that a southbound 2002 Acura was entering the S bend between the 5th and 6th Lines, when a northbound 2010 Nissan Altima crossed the centre line and side-swiped the southbound vehicle, forcing it to come to rest in the west ditch. The northbound vehicle failed to remain at the scene.
A short time later the vehicle was located, down an embankment, several hundred metres north of the accident scene, with an injured female passenger still in the vehicle. She advised that her son’s friend had been driving the vehicle and that both had left the scene. The female passenger was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where she is being treated for broken ribs.
A short time later, police intercepted the driver of the northbound vehicle at a residence on Steele Street in Alliston. Alex Fowler, age 26, of Alliston, was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing Bodily Harm, as well as Fail to Stop a Scene of Accident involving Bodily Harm. Both are Criminal Code Offences.
Occupants of the southbound vehicle were not injured.
