Doors Open Ontario provides a look at local heritage

The Town of New Tecumseth is participating in Doors Open Ontario – a chance for local residents to discover local history, heritage, and hands-on experiences at two local cultural sites.
The Museum on the Boyne and the Sir Frederick Banting Homestead & Heritage Park will welcome residents and visitors for a full day of exploration, demonstrations, and family-friendly activities. Enjoy heritage interpretation, demonstrations, and community service displays.
The Museum on the Boyne will host heritage demonstrations, hands-on crafts, spinners and weavers, watercolour activities, historical interpretation inside the galleries, complimentary popcorn, and an information tent with program materials and family-friendly takeaways.
At the Banting Homestead, visitors will enjoy outdoor demonstrations, community service displays with Fire Services and EMS on-site. Ongoing craft activities will be available inside the visitor centre, along with cotton candy and an information tent with program materials and family activities.
Admission is free, and all ages are invited to take part in this province-wide celebration of culture.
Doors Open Ontario will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Museum on the Boyne (250 Fletcher Crescent, Alliston) and Banting Homestead (5116 Sir Frederick Banting Road, Alliston).
