Driver charged with impaired after collision with hydro pole

A man was arrested and charged with impaired driving by officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following a single-vehicle collision involving a hydro pole.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on June 1, 2026, police were notified of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed that had collided with a hydro pole on Adjala-Tecusmeth Townline.

Officers attended the scene and observed a heavily damaged vehicle and a downed hydro pole with live wires, which had ignited a grass fire.

Police spoke with the driver and observed signs of impairment.

The driver did not require medical attention.

Following further investigation, the driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Adrian Poulin, 28, of Alliston, has been charged with:

· Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration (80 plus)

· Dangerous operation

· Obstruct peace officer

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford at a later date.

Their driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The charges have not been proven in court.
